DESIGN FUTURISM
Designing What’s Next
Design shapes the future—it’s how we imagine new ways of living, connecting, and creating. Design Futurism invites us to move beyond the spectacle of technology toward human-centered, solution-driven innovation. It’s a practice rooted in possibility: rethinking systems, challenging norms, and designing for collective futures.
Experience the “Community Scent” Pop-Up by Muse Apothecary x Studio One Eleven. Available for purchase at Muse Apothecary’s flagship pop-up, located inside Studio One Eleven in the DTLB Design District. Created in collaboration with Studio One Eleven, this signature scent was originally developed as the Essence of Community for the DTLB Design District—blending coastal air, native botanicals, and creative energy to capture the spirit of Long Beach. Now the official scent of the LA Design Festival, it brings a sense of place and purpose to every space it fills.

The Mosaic Promenade comes alive with music, local vendors, interactive installations, and featured work by regional designers. Experience a 3D AR installation by Metapunkz—originally shown at Art Basel Miami—alongside their playful Love Kitties in Space activation, celebrating Long Beach’s new “Space Beach” identity. Also featured: Rainbow Machine by Nathan Amondson with the RDC–S111 Maker Group—a kinetic sculpture of wind-activated panels casting shifting rainbows and mist-enhanced light. The event is from 6-9pm and is free and open to the public.
